Reading was not a problem until we reached Myanmar.
There, an absence of cash machines forced us to carefully ration every single kyat of our monthly budget.
Yet my partner had overlooked my penchant for carting withered paperbacks on our travels, and he left no stipend for the thick tome that beckoned from a bookstore in Nyaungshwe.
“Do you want to eat tonight, or do you want to read?”
I chose the book.

This world is often ‘too much for words’; of such extremes, it cannot be described.
Do you ever notice how the grandest adventures are better captured and best remembered through the quotes you stumble upon, the movie scenes you relate to, the lyrics you overhear in some back alley cafe?
But the right book, song or film can capture our emotions perfectly, or send us to the exact place we were meant to be.
Too Mutch For Words is not a book store. Instead, think of it as the coolest library you’ll ever visit.
And I’m your exuberant librarian – also, hopefully, the coolest you’ll ever meet.
Reading and traveling are inseparable to me, and I’ve been doing both since I can remember. A member of the world’s largest book club, I’m a regular blogger for Wanderlust And Lipstick, and give playlists as birthday presents. Because no one could ever pronounce my last name, do as my friends and call me Mutch.
Whether you’re at home or on the road, planning a trip down the Amazon or shopping on Amazon, I hope Too Mutch For Words will convince you to travel every day.

Hi, came across your blog through Jessica Mudditt. Just seen the fact that you are blogging about Burma. I was wondering whether you were still there as in the UK (I live) there has been a massive outrage in the muslim community that thousands of muslims in Burma are being slaughtered to death. This is being done without NO international media reporting on this! thus if you have any balls, and whether you are serious about being a critical journalist- I challenge you to find out much more about this and report on it please!
Thanks for drawing attention to the situation- I feel that too many “ethnic incidents” happen in Burma for the international press, or folks at home, to distinguish between them all. And my boyfriend and I, who traveled through the country together, were both shocked by the actions of the Buddhist population, whom we had come to respect. Unfortunately, I am not living in Burma at the moment, but have returned to the States. However, I did mention an aspect of this tragedy (the plight of its refugees) in a post on World Refugee Day.
Please continue to read and scour the news for information on this, and inform your community at home- as I and my boyfriend are doing now – and thank you again for challenging me to do the same!
Any plans to head back to Asia? If I’m not deported from Russia for staying without a visa, my plans will take me there soon.

Have just come across your blog! We purchased land there last year and are just about to embark on the adventure of building our house in Queenstown with the plan to move there next year. Many of your reasons for raising a family there are exactly why we want to be there! We are currently in Sydney and feel that Queenstown embraces the love of the outdoors and healthy lifestyles and that it will be a great place to raise a family. Great to hear stories from some happy QT families. 🙂
