Language Lesson #1: Burmese

“Mingala ba” = A Burmese greeting, roughly meaning “An auspicious day to you!”  It can be used at any hour and will freeze children with startled laughter.  Also a good way to impress elderly women.

Shwebo, Myanmar

A polite “Mingalaba” results in a personal lesson on grinding and applying thanaka, the Burmese makeup.
